Our Big Block Ford (385 Series) cylinder heads are designed to work with standard intake manifolds and exhaust headers.

Head Gaskets
These cylinder heads are compatible with standard OEM-style head gaskets.

Head Bolts / Studs
Big Block Ford engines utilize 9/16" diameter head bolts or studs. Proper torque is essential for reliable sealing and performance.
- Torque Specification:
- 145 lb-ft with high-pressure moly lubricant
- Use a 3-step process: start at 70 lb-ft, then increase in 25 lb-ft increments
- Recommended Hardware Kits:

- Fel-Pro Head Bolt Kit: #155-4203

Spark Plugs
These heads are designed for use with standard 14mm thread, 5/8" hex, 0.750" reach spark plugs. For best results, choose heat ranges appropriate for your application.
- Compatible Spark Plug Options:
- NGK: BCPR6ES, R5671A-7, R5671A-8
- Autolite: 3923, 3924, AR3933, AR3934
- Champion: RC12YC, RC10YC4, RC9YC3
Tip: For boosted or nitrous applications, a colder heat range plug is recommended.
